What happens when you enrol onto our Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training course?
Blog #18
Before you take the step and enrol onto a CIMSPA recognised fitness qualification, such as the Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course, it is of great importance that you have a clear understanding of what will happen after you book and pay for your course.
This blog has been written to give you clarity on how you can go from having the idea of qualifying as a Level 3 Personal Trainer (or as a Level 2 Gym Instructor) to enrolling onto your course and starting your journey to become a CIMSPA recognised Fitness Professional.
It will cover the important steps that we would advise any individual to take, whether qualifying with us or with any training provider.
The important thing to remember is this, whichever qualification that you choose to enrol onto, you should be given everything that you need to qualify to the correct level of education and to support you throughout your career.
What should happen before you enrol onto a course?
You should be given the opportunity to speak with one of your course tutors (not a sales-person) prior to enrolling.
Before enrolling on to a new course/qualification and potentially be looking to embark on a brand new career, you may have an array of questions on how your course will fit in with your current lifestyle & commitments and what your options will be once you are fully qualified.
You may also be uncertain about how you go about building a business and growing a client base to get a return back on your course investment
Therefore one of the first important steps that you can take, should you want or need it, is to be given the opportunity to speak with a tutor that you will be working with from day one of your studies.
The ability to speak with your course tutor before even booking onto the course will enable you to not only get all of your questions answered, but to be able to start building a professional rapport so that you understand the level of support that you will receive.
You can book a call with us be clicking on the button below and filling out the form. In response to this, Ash of Performance Training Academy will be in touch to arrange a time and day that suits you.
We do not use a sales team here at PTA, you will only be contacted by our course tutors.

After you have watched the first few lessons, you will have a call booked in with your course tutor.
On this call, your tutor will ensure that you have everything you need and will answer any questions that you might have.
Your tutor will also look to understand why you are wanting to qaulify as a Personal Trainer, what your plans are for once you are fully qualified, and to discuss how we can help you along the way – throughout your course and your future career.
On this first intial call with your support tutor, we will also set your goals and targets for when you can expect to complete your qualification. They will also recommend that you start thinking about what needs to be in place for when you are fully qualified – i.e Social Media Platforms, Website, Branding and more (note: not all will be applicable to everyone, but we will help you all the same).
After your course welcome call, it will be a case of working through the theory content of your qualification prior to the practical workshops commencing.
Our structured design of the delivery of our courses will ensure that you have the best possible learning experience. By design, they are created to set you up in the best possible way for your career in the health & fitness industry as a Personal Trainer.
I am sure that all training providers will say the same, but let me explain and give further context as to why we really back ourselves with this statement.
Our delivery style…
Unfortunately there are a lot of ‘online’ courses out there which are generic, ‘white-label’ products. Essentially a powerpoint online course that covers the bare minumim of the syllabus content and delivers the bare minimum education to a learner.
As a company we actually started off using some of this style content thinking that it was the ‘only’ way to deliver ‘online learning’.
But we were not happy with what was being delivered.
Therefore we set out to change the script and to create our very own standard of online learning. We changed how it is structured, how it is delivered, and how it can be a valuable resource to the learner throughout their Personal Training career.
All of our content has been recorded and produced in-house. We set out with the objectives of ensuring that our learners felt as though they were learning from a ‘knowledgeable and experienced’ tutor in a ‘class-room’ style lesson. The same tutor who will be supporting them through their qualification and mentoring them through their career.
We do not use ‘narrated powerpoints’, we use white-boards, resources and even a skeleton for a visual aid when teaching the Anatomy & Physiology unit.
Teaching to a group of keen personal training students in a class room style was great, but now our learners can get this same style of learning as soon as they enrol (no waiting around for teaching days to start), and importantly they can go back and re-watch certain lessons again and again to reinforce their learning and subject knowledge.
Being able to revisit your lessons is invaluable when working with your paying personal training clients throughout your career. For example, if you want to go back and recap how to effectively analyse a clients food diary and create a specific nutrition plan, then you can simply go back an re-watch these lessons.
Our structure is engaging, you will not be learning by watching a 2 hour lecture, you will be learning from ‘bite-size’ lessons that make up the units of our course.
Units such as:
- Programming
- Nutrition
- Anatomy
- Business set up and marketing
- Advanced training methods and more….
What if you don’t understand something and you have a question?
Well instead of putting your hand up and asking in front of a class, you can simply contact your course support tutor and they will answer your questions same-day – either via email, website chat, phone, or we can even schedule in a video call to ‘teach’ you through the subject knowledge.
The importance of our small intake of learners and enrolment windows.
To offer our learners the best learning experience possible, it is important that we do not over subscribe any one course.
This ensures that our support tutors can still work individually with each learner, to be able to assess a learners work within a matter of days (sometimes same day) to ensure progress is not affected whilst waiting for work to be marked, and to be able to answer any questions or provide guidance within the same day.
Our cohorts, of up to 12 learners per course (online theory completion and practical workshop delivery), ensures that you will receive individual support and not be lost in the numbers on our practical workshops.
The reason that we have ‘enrolment windows’ is to give each learner the ability to be able to work through most of (if not all) of the online theory content before the practical workshops start. This means that all learners will hold the same amount of subject knowledge going into the practical workshops and to be able to fully focus on, and enjoy learning and applying, the practical content of their qualification.
