This article is to make your decision in choosing to become a Personal Trainer that little bit easier.

It is highly important before you invest in your education and start a brand new career that you have a full understanding of what you will get from your level 3 personal training course.

Here we will give you a clear overview of what happens when you enrol onto our level 3 diploma in gym instructing and personal training course… including how you will learn, how long our course will take you to complete, and how you can get an immediate return on your investment as you look to take on your first personal training clients and build your business as a personal trainer when you are fully qualified.

1. What happens when I enrol onto the Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course:

It is incredibly easy to enrol and get an immediate start on your journey to become an industry recognised personal trainer.

Enrolment is done by purchasing the Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course on our website. This can be done using the link below:

Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course

After you have purchased your course, using the pay in full or interest free instalment option, you will be given immediate access to your online learning platform – your course link and login details will arrive at your registered email address.

You can then log in, have a good look around your Student Dashboard and even make a start with the opening lessons of your Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course.

As soon as you enrol, your course support tutor will be in touch to book in your first call (this will be a video call but it can be done as a phone call if preffered).

It is highly important that you work closely with a course tutor throughout any online course content. This needs to be a qualified personal training tutor, not just a ‘service desk style’ customer service personnel.

2. The importance of a course tutor:

From experience, many companies will give plenty of contact in the sales process to get an indiviual to enrol onto their course… yet once they enrol, a learner often has very limited or no support at all.

Some companies are known to take days or weeks to answer a simple question and work may take weeks or months to be assessed. This is because some training providers simply can not offer an approved course tutor to support a learner with their studies and instead have to rely on freelance assessors.

We ensure that all of our learners have the ability to work with a level 3 personal training course tutor throughout their studies, and importantly a tutor who has experience as a personal trainer and experience in building a personal training business.

The first couple of calls with your course tutor will happen in the first week:

1. Course welcome call –  This will be your first contact with your personal training tutor. As well as being a good opportunity to get to know each other, your tutor will show you around your online learning platform and course materials.

2. Assessment plan call – Your second call a week later will allow your course tutor to set your assessment targets with you. Essentially this is your timeline to course completion, ensuring you know exactly what needs to be done to become a fully qualified personal trainer.

After these calls your course support tutor will have regular ‘accountability calls’ with you to keep you motivated and to ensure you are understanding the course content.

Your level 3 personal trainer tutor will have real-life industry experience in running a personal training business, therefore you will be learning from someone who has experience in getting you to where you want to be.

3. Working through the online content for the Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course:

Your online course content has been structured so that you will learn the theory content of your personal training course first.

The theory module will cover subject knowledge such as:

  • Programming for a range of different clients with different goals
  • Anatomy & Physiology (highly important for a fitness professional)
  • Nutrition – which includes how to analyse a clients food diary and how to design specific nutrition plans
  • Business acumen for personal trainers

Remember your course support tutor will be at hand to work with you as you progress through this content.

After you have worked through the theory module and built up the relevant subject knowledge that a good personal trainer requires, you can then start to work through the practical module of your course. This will include:

  • Delivering a professional consultation
  • How to perform baseline measure tests
  • How to deliver personal training sessions using advanced training methods
  • Personal Training equipment variables and environments, and much more…

To support your practical module, you will also have an extensive Exercise & Coaching video library.

It is when you are working through the practical module of your level 3 diploma in gym instructing and personal training course that you and your course support tutor will start to put together your case study of work, where you will use an individual as a personal training client.

4. Start putting together the foundations of your business:

We strongly advise all of our learners to start building the foundations of their personal training business at the very early stages of their course.

This includes creating a brand, building brand awareness and building up an audience. We will even encourage you to start putting together social media business pages, creating a YouTube channel and getting a website up and running (all are optional and only if relevent to your future goal).

By sharing your new business venture, promoting your brand and sharing your learning journey, you will often find an audience that wants to engage in this and many of these individuals can become paying personal training clients when you are fully qualified.

We help and support our learners throughout this process… we can even build you your website and assist in brand design.

When our personal training students follow this advice, they can have a fitness business in place and ready to go for as soon as they are qualified (rather than doing this at a later date). They will also often have paying clients lined up and ready to pay for their personal training services.

By starting the foundations of your personal training business, it ensures you can get an immediate return on your investment and are on the way to building the income that you want as a personal trainer.

5. Attend in-person practical workshops

The reason that we have ‘enrolment windows’ for our blended learning level 3 diploma in gym instructing and personal training course is so that our students can cover a large part of the online course content prior to attending practical workshops.

This is great for our learners as it ensures they come into the workshops with excellent subject knowledge – both in training systems and in the biomechanics of the human body.

Our five practical workshops that make up a part of our blended-learning personal training course are delivered by our experienced personal trainer tutors who have their own fitness business and existing client base. This is important as you will be learning from industry experts who work with their own personal training clients – delivering to you the same skills and knowledge that they are using with their own clients on a weekly basis.

Note: We do have an online only option where you will be working with your course support tutor to cover the practical delivery. The process to qualification will be the same, just without the practical workshop attendance.

6. Passing the level 3 diploma in gym instructing and personal training course assessments:

To pass your qualification and become recognised as an industry recognised Personal Trainer, there will externally set assessments that you will be required to pass to show your understanding of the subject knowledge. Most of these assessments are completed as you work through the online course content.

End of unit quizzes –  At the end of each online unit, you will be required to complete an ‘open-book’ quiz to show that you have an understanding of the subject knowledge that you have just worked through.

Exams – There are two exams that you will need to get more than 70% in to pass. These are the Level 2 Anatomy exam and the Level 3 Anatomy & Nutrition exam. Both of these exams can be sat at home as soon as you are ready to do so.

Case study – This will complete your assessments. Your case study is based on an individual that you can use as a personal training client. It will allow you to showcase your theoretical knowledge and allow you to put your learning into action in a practical sense. The work you will perform with your client will include the following:

  • Client consultation
  • Gym programme design
  • Baseline measure tests
  • Delivered personal training sessions
  • Nutritional analysis and advice

What makes this practical case study assessment format so good is that it is the exact same process that will need to be followed when you are working with your future personal training clients.

7. Start your personal training business:

After you have worked through our online learning platform, attended our practical workshops (not required on our ‘Fully online Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training course‘), and passed all of your assessments, you will be a fully recognised Personal Trainer.

The duration of our course is on average 5 months in duration. This can be done quicker or over a longer period of time depending on your needs, timescale and career goals.

When you are fully qualified you will be able to immediately start your personal training business and offer your services to your target market – you should even have paying clients ready to start working with you.

To support you with your career as a personal trainer, you will have life-long access to our online learning platform and your course content. This is important as it is when you are working with your personal training clients that you will often need to refer to what you learnt on your level 3 diploma in gym instructing and personal training qualification.

Your course support tutor will also be at hand to help you after you are qualified. From our own experience we know that most of the questions you will have and help you will need will come when you are working with your paying clients – which is why we offer this ongoing support.

We hope this gives you a clear overview of how you can qualify as a level 3 personal trainer with us.
